Digital Elevation Model

A Digital Elevation model is a type of GIS layer, which shows the world as an arrangement of locations. Each part of the map has a value, which is directly related to its elevation. This map can be helpful for hikers who need to know how steep the range is to know that they will be able to do it. One of the most important aspects of a DEM is being able to add shading to hills in order for the viewer to see the relationship between terrain and other things.  This digital elevation model shows the Oak ridges Moraine as a ridge that separates Lake Ontario from Lake Simone. In between the two bodies of water you can see the orange, which is the regional ground surface and the highest peek separating them.
