Cartographic animation maps have the ability to show change
over time. The most practical example of that is what Floridian’s generally see
every summer and that is the path of hurricanes. This map can physically move
and rotate just as they predict the hurricane is going to so that people can prepare
themselves if it is heading their way. This particular map shows Hurricane Ivan
which hit Florida in 2004, with the colors indicating where the most severe
parts of the storm are and also where there are tornado watches and warnings.
