Thematic Map
The most important factor about a thematic map is that it has to have a theme. Generally thematic maps portray distribution of rainfall in an area or population density. The main purpose of this map is not to show cities, roads, or subdivisions but to display their theme. This particular map is considered a thematic map because it is showing the Native Hawaiian population by census of the Island of Hawaii. Just looking at the map you can clearly see the division of the populations and where they are located and in what areas that population is more dense.
